Different Trains
The Dukes superlative recording of Steve Reich's Different Trains is now available on Black Box (CD BBM1097).
"The Dukes plunge in Different Trains with decisive biting bows. Reich's most famous work has never had a punchier start.....The voices of the Kindertransport victims inspire the Dukes' most passionate responses. Some groups plays this repetitive music like automatrons, but not the Dukes...the whole disc is a fitting tribute to his [Reich's] 70th birthday this Tuesday."
Rick Jones, The Times
"The Dukes has significantly refreshed the pre-recorded backtrack and deliver an energetic yet sweetly nuanced account for the composer's 7oth birthday."
